As an analyst in the mobile team, Tim Shepherd focuses on the smart phone market and the fast-evolving ecosystem for mobile applications and services. His responsibilities include leading the company’s global mobile app store research across smart phones, feature phones and pads. He provides clients with confidential, tailored advice regarding app store strategies, as well as analysis and recommendations on the strengths, weaknesses and opportunities related to both incumbent stores and new entrants.
Tim also conducts research and analysis across the company’s worldwide portfolio of mobility-focused vendor advisory services. This includes the quarterly tracking of smart phone and mobile phone shipments in EMEA and the Americas. He regularly writes analytical reports on a wide range of topics in the mobile space and contributes to a variety of client consultancy projects. Recent examples have included competitive analysis projects in the wireless segment and assisting in the development of go-to-market strategies in the mobile space.
Prior to joining Canalys in 2006, Tim worked as an IT Consultant for a small business advisory firm in South Wales. He graduated from the University of Oxford with a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Modern History as an Edwin Jones Scholar of Jesus College, before obtaining a Master of Arts.
