Matthew Ball
Senior Analyst
Matthew Ball joined Canalys in January 2004. His primary
responsibility is running the company’s market leading Unified
Communications Analysis service, which focuses on the evolution of
enterprise telephony and its integration with user presence and
identification, conferencing, IM, e-mail, mobility and video. He is
regularly quoted in the business and technology press and presents
at numerous client events. He also contributes to confidential
consultancy projects, participates in the Canalys quarterly
converged channel survey and provides clients with expert advice and
analysis regarding trends in unified communications.
Prior to joining Canalys, Matthew worked for three years as a
research analyst at MZA, where he was responsible for a variety of
research and analysis activities in both the consumer and enterprise
areas of the telecommunications industry. His principal activities
included PBX market sizing and analysis of market share information
as well as price tracking at both a European and worldwide level.
Matthew graduated from the University of Birmingham with an
honours degree in Geography, specialising in analytical techniques.
