Mike Welch

Mike Welch joined Canalys in June 2000. A veteran of the market analyst business, Mike manages the mobile team within Canalys. He is responsible for designing primary field research projects, forecast model development and is a member of the senior management team. He contributes analysis on consumer and SMB topics, including PCs, mobile communications, consumer devices and personal digital technology, applications and gaming.

Prior to joining Canalys, Mike was vice president of Gartner's European E-Business Market Intelligence group (latterly GartnerG2). He entered the industry in 1985 when he joined technology market consultancy INTECO Corporation. During his 20-year career with analyst companies he has held technical, marketing, management and analytical positions. Starting in systems analysis and software development, he moved into IT and business operations management, then later into forecasting, research design and market analysis. Mike helped design INTECO’s highly acclaimed European quarterly consumer and SMB PC tracking services as well as its worldwide business and consumer PC market forecast models.

Mike graduated from Queen Mary College (University of London) with an honours degree in Computer Science and Mathematics.
