Alex Smith conducts research into enterprise IT trends. He supports the company’s Data Center Analysis, Enterprise Networking Analysis and Enterprise Security Analysis portfolio of services. This includes the collation of market data, vendor performance assessments, trends analysis and conducting client presentations.
Prior to joining Canalys in 2007, Alex obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce Co-op with a Major in Finance from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada. As part of his degree, Alex studied various disciplines, including financial derivatives, business strategy, statistics and economics. He also worked for an exploration company in Calgary, Canada, as a Junior Financial Analyst, where he monitored company financial data and helped develop a model to generate cash flow forecasts.
Alex has roots in both Thailand and the United Kingdom and has spent time in the Middle East and North America.
