Mobile Research Analyst position - Palo Alto, US
Canalys is looking for a Research Analyst to help support its fast-growing and highly respected worldwide mobile services department.
The Research Analyst will work in an experienced global team, analyzing technology and routes-to-market trends across smart phones, mobile phones and mobile apps. The successful applicant will assist in tracking new product launches, monitoring sales and pricing, cross-checking quarterly data from industry participants, and analyzing market and technology trends. He or she will also be expected to handle client enquiries and create presentations.
Main duties
- Help conduct quarterly product sales-in tracking in the specific markets covered.
- Keep up to date with and analyze the latest market and technology trends.
- Track new product launches and pricing changes.
- Attend vendor briefings, meetings, trade shows, product launches and conferences, which may include some foreign travel.
- Conduct web/telephone research to update and compile databases.
- Provide written and verbal responses to client enquiries.
- Write short, topical, opinion-led analyst reports.
Skills required
The role would suit a recent graduate (Bachelor’s minimum), or a graduate with a year or two’s experience looking to progress in a fast-moving organization. The ideal candidate must be able to show initiative and contribute and promote their own ideas and opinions, as well as being very capable of working within a global virtual team environment. An interest in and knowledge of technology is a pre-requisite.
The individual will be confident and very comfortable communicating to senior clients over the telephone, face-to-face and in writing. Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word, are essential. Fluency in a language other than English would be an advantage. The Research Analyst will further be expected to show flexibility and be culturally aware.
