President & CEO
Steve Brazier is the President & CEO of Canalys - the
fast-growing think-tank that provides research and analysis of
trends in global high technology markets. Canalys delivers its
highly-valued analysis through continuous services, consulting
projects, reports and custom presentations.
Steve’s work spans the full range of the company's specialisation
areas, including mobile devices, PCs, security, networking, servers,
storage, fixed and mobile telephony and the digital home. He has led
Canalys to make it one of the most respected analyst firms working
in the field of technology convergence, by operating across the
boundaries that sit between the IT, telecoms and consumer
electronics industries. His personal research focus is on evolving
routes-to-market for technology products and services, and the
strategies that vendors should adopt. He has been established for
many years as one of the leading global visionaries regarding
distribution channel trends. His quarterly "Critique" teleconference
is recognised as one of the most influential scheduled analyst events
within the European IT industry.
Steve's opinion is highly sought after. He is quoted frequently
in the influential business press, including The Wall Street
Journal, Businessweek, Der Spiegel, Les Echos, CNN and Sky News. He
is a familiar figure on the public speaking circuit, appearing at
many vendor events hosted by companies such as HP, FSC, IBM, Oracle,
Symantec, 3Com and Sony. His work matters behind the scenes too,
where he sets the industry's priorities as well as commenting on
them. He is frequently engaged to participate in board-level
meetings by the leading vendors and channel players.
Steve previously worked for the Dataquest subsidiary of Gartner,
where he held various posts, culminating in Principal Analyst and
Associate Director. In this role he led its worldwide distribution
research programmes across the PC, document management and networking
industries as well as its PC market research activities in Europe.
Prior to 1993, Steve was a consultant for IT research firm INTECO
(now Gartner-owned), which led him to spend 1992 working in Norwalk,
Connecticut.
Steve holds a joint honours degree in Mathematics and Physics
from the University of Bristol.
