Electric Vehicle Analysis

Comprehensive worldwide market data, forecasts and analysis of the growing electric vehicle market and the strategies of the key players.

The growth in sales of electric vehicles (EVs) has provided the automotive industry with a ray of hope in recent years during a particularly challenging time. Demand for EVs is building around the world but the EV share of vehicle sales varies from less than 1% in some countries to over 80% in others. Demand is affected by the availability of EVs, the cost of ownership, the roll out of EV charging infrastructure, government policies and incentives, and the awareness and acceptance of vehicles by consumers.
All automotive OEMs are transitioning their product line-ups from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to EVs (fully electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids). The speed at which they transition differs from one OEM or brand to another. Most have set target years by which all or a specific percentage of their ranges will be EVs. Scale and time to market are crucial and OEMs will use EV platforms in multiple new models across sub-brands and vehicle types to accelerate the transition most efficiently. Many new EV-only brands have entered the market, challenging the incumbent OEMs and offering consumers more choice.
